Beginner Triathlon Group for Discovery ITU Cape Town Triathlon is 8 weeks in…

On the  13th  January 2015 our newest Embark Army beginner Triathletes started their journey of training for the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Series (WTS) event, taking place end of April.

All the newbies were fairly scared and listened with big eyes at our launch morning at the posh Discovery Health Concept Store in Sea Point. Head Coach STeve Attwell calmed the nerves and cracked a few jokes. Steve explained how much fun triathlon can be, how many new and exciting things there are to learn and that Embark has the most qualified and patient beginner coaches. A brief outline and explanation of the program for the next 16 weeks made the newbie eyes glitter with excitement.

For the last 7 weeks the group has grown even more and the new Triathletes chipped away at their training blocks diligently & consistently.  From running their first 5km Time Trial to open water swimming in the stunning outdoor Tidal Pool at Camps Bay, and Big Bay in Blouberg and concurring the big Suikerbossie hill & battling it out to get to the Top of Chappies for the local seaboard guys.  Through strengths and weaknesses this group of inspiring new athletes have bonded and formed a strong bond…a true characteristic of our Embark Army!

Great results and achievements have been achieved by every single group member throughout the groups.  Our newest Embark Army Athletes will be half way through their program by next week, as we tackle week 8.  Coach Hildy (KarooDaisy) loves & enjoys her group tremendously and is immensely proud of every single person under her guidance. Supa Dave, Ed and Japie put their athletes through their paces each week and are seeing great results. Travis is now getting the JHB guys in order and they will all be at the race come the end of April.

Its going to be a great day out watching the beginners at their goal race! And remember its never too late to join the group training! Contact us through the contact page…
