Half Ironman training is underway…

Its with much excitement that the new groups of 70.3 Half Ironman athletes commence their training. With 2 weeks down now, we have completed an orientation week for swim/bike/run/triathlon, and a full week of training. The athletes, (soon to be triathletes), this week completed a long ride, long run, a strength and conditioning session and a pool session. Distances required at this level are around 2h of riding, 40mins of running and 1km of swimming. We are pleased to say that the athletes are well on track at this stage of the training.

Every athlete has a 6 month planner that they are working through. Each Monday they receive their program to work through for the week. There is a group session provided for the run, swim, bike and a strength session in the form of a boot camp. We have coaches and programs running on the Atlantic Seaboard, Northern Suburbs, Blouberg, Somerset West and JHB.

There is now 158 days left to go until the race on the 25th Jan. It really is going to be an amazing journey and the stories of success will be abundant. Keep an eye on the Embark athletes over this season as they complete 4 triathlons, 2 half marathons and a whole HEAP of miles on the bike and sea!! Good luck everyone!!
