The 70.3 group complete their first half marathon…

Bright and early on Sunday morning, the 70.3 Half Ironman triathletes set off for their first half marathon of the 6 month program. 21.1kms in and around Cape Town’s Atlantic seaboard. Its a flatish run with a decent climb 14kms in. There was a great turn out of the Embark athletes as the Northern Suburbs group also came to do this race. The town group had been given strict instructions to beat the Northern Suburbs group and STeve had given even stricter instructions for his top runners to beat the Northern Suburbs coach, Super Dave Sullivan!! (Apparently Dave got a sore foot and that’s why 3 of the town guys beat him :)))

Once again, the Embark triathletes all finished the race, lots of them with smiles on their faces wanting more!! What’s more staggering is that on Saturday they rode 80kms!! So its a great progression of endurance over the past 12 weeks. The next half marathon is on the 3rd November, the Landmarks Half, this is a tough run, a lot more hilly, a lot more hilly, a lot more hilly. The Town group will again be giving strict instruction to beat the Northern Suburbs group, and even more pressure to beat SuperDave!! 🙂

We move into rest week now, down time, relax, eat, sleep and recover. Its this week that we actually get stronger, our bodies adapt to the work load and strengthen. Without rest you just don’t get better. Enjoy the rest week, block 4 is a toughy as we prepare for our first standard distance tri on the 27th October in the beautiful Slanghoek Valley.

Thanks for the hard work over the last 3 weeks!
