Embark triathletes nail first sea swim at Clifton 4th

This was a big weekend worth of training! A serious jump start into the beginning of week 5. Saturday we had done our long run in 8 degrees rainy and cold weather and in the afternoon we swam 1.6kms open water in the canals. Sunday we met at 8am to prep for our first sea swim and joined the 1SOSM (1st sunday of the month) swim. Its a mile swim, 1.6kms, and as luck had it we had warm waters! Well only 15.5 degrees, but that’s warm by Clifton standards. The sea was rough, probably rougher than we will ever have at 70.3 ELS, so it was a great practice for the swimmers. And a good mental barrier to surpass.

Once all the swimmers were out, we headed off on the bike for a 60kms ride. Today was a great day to practice nutrition, as the sea swim will have stolen all the energy from the athletes. Well done to everyone for completing the big weekend! Rest tomorrow and see you all for running on Tuesday.
