Beginners ‘mock’ triathlon done…

After 2 attempts to do the triathlon for the beginners, the weather held this weekend and we managed the 600m open water swim, the 20km bike and the 5km run, and of course T1 and T2. Ours however, was not a conventional triathlon as our swim was done about 15kms away from transition! So once the swim was done we jumped into our cars (in our wetsuits) and headed down to the transition in Camps Bay. We set up our transition area and then headed to the tidal pool to ‘restart’ the tri. Although they didn’t have to swim again, they had to get completely wet and then perform the wet run into t1. So after a quick change they were out on the 20km ride to Hout Bay and back, t2 and headed out for the 5km run.

So we have just about 6 weeks left now of the beginners program and then it switched the to the 70.3 half ironman training on August 1st. The group is already looking quite strong, so make sure you book your spot onto the training group.
