Beginner Triathletes brave first sea swim…

We thought we might have to cancel the first swim for the beginners today, as the seas were very angry the previous day, leading to the Freedom Swim being cancelled. But luckily by Sunday morning the sea was calmer and we were able to suit up and brave the seas. We had already run an hour on the mountain! The beginner triathletes are becoming seasoned!

So after a briefing on the seas, currents, rips, swells etc we got into waist deep water to experience the waves breaking onto us, and to get a feeling of the power of the ocean. A couple of us learned the hard way, not mentioning names: MIKE! 🙂

We will be practising more of this as we lead up to our first triathlon in under 3 weeks time. The level we require is 600m of sea swimming. So that’s our goal for the next few weeks. We are already up to the running 5kms and the biking 35kms. Will keep the updates coming…
